Iréne Theorin started her studies in Goteburg and continued at the Music Academy and the Royal School of Opera in Copenhagen. Subsequently, she became a member of the Soloist Ensemble of the Royal Opera in Copenhagen, where she has since become a permanent guest artist and performed title roles in numerous productions.
She has appeared at major opera houses, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, Semperoper in Dresden, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Royal Opera in Stockholm, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Washington Opera, as well as at the festivals of Bayreuth, Salzburg and Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
In her concert performances she has worked with such conductors as Giuseppe Sinopoli, Valery Gergiev, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, Sir Edward Downs, Gianandrea Noseda, Kazushi Ono, Gerd Albrecht and others.
She has performed the title role in Puccini's Turandot with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta.
