Mario Zeffiri enjoys an international career, performing in major opera houses around the world, among them La Scala in Milan, the operas of Rome, Bologna, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Dresden, Zurich, Barcelona, Santiago de Chile and the Israeli Opera.
He has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Roberto Abbado, Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Daniele Gatti, Riccardo Muti, Helmut Rilling and Alberto Zedda, and stage directors Pier'Alli, Hugo de Ana, Dario Fo, Pier Luigi Pizzi and Luca Ronconi. His festival appearances include Salzburg, Ravenna, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Hellenic Festival in Greece.
Born in Athens, Mario Zeffiri studied at the Academy of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan thanks to a scholarship sponsored by the Maria Callas Foundation, and in Spain with tenor Juan Oncina. He is currently studying with KammersäÌnger Peter Gougaloff in Berlin. This is his first appearance with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
