Alon Bor - Timpani

Alon Bor was born in Israel in 1952 and after studying the violin for a while he studied percussion here with Gideon Steiner and in the USA with Fred Hinger. He joined the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in 1970, at the age of 18, and today serves as its Principal Percussionist and Assistant Principal Timpanist. He is also the head of the Percussion Department at the Rubin Academy of Music, Tel-Aviv University.

 

He has released a CD of Nachum Heiman tunes, in which he plays the marimba and other percussion instrument. He has appeared as soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
