Principal
Bruce Weinstein, Principal Oboist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra since 1985, was born in New York (1949) and attended the High School of Music and Art, studying with Ronald Roseman. He also studied at the Manhattan School of Music with Harold Gomberg.
In 1975 he was awarded the Leonard Bernstein Fellowship at the Berkshire Music Center, Tangelwood, where he studied with Ralph Gomberg. Following service in the US Army he was Principal Oboist and soloist with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic (1973-76) and the Grand Rapids Symphony (1976-85).
He has appeared as soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra both in Israel and abroad, and plays oboes made by the firm A. Laübin Inc. (USA).
