Second bassoon and Contra Bassoon
Carol Patterson came to the Israel Philharmonic from Toronto, Canada. During her high school years she was inspired by music teacher, Bob Krueger, to excel in the school orchestra. Her studies led her to Indiana University where she was exposed to a truly legendary player, former IPO principal bassoon, Mordecai Rechtman. She followed Rechtman to Israel for additional private studies, remained in Israel, and joining the Israel Chamber Ensemble.
In 1991, Carol joined the IPO.
Carol plays both second bassoon and the massive contrabassoon, frequently switching between the two during concerts.
