Lior Eitan, one of Israel's leading flutists, has for many years been active as a soloist and in the chamber music scene. He plays on all four members of the flute family - piccolo, flute, alto flute and bass flute – and moves freely from one to another. On many occasions he uses all four of them in the same concert.
Since 1997 he has devoted most of his time to developing his career as a piccolo soloist. He commissions every year new works for Piccolo from Israeli composers and gives their world premiere. He also writes unique arrangements of masterworks by classical composers such as Telemann, Tchaikovsky, Schubert and others.
He has received international recognition as piccolo artist, and performs in Europe and in the USA.
Lior Eitan was born in Israel. He completed his studies with distinction at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music in 1985. In the same year, at age 22, he was appointed principal flutist of the Israel Sinfonietta. Since 1988 he has been solo piccolo with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 1995 Lior recorded his first CD, featuring classical works arranged for Flute and Harp. As member of the Israel Flute Ensemble, Lior has recorded three CD's for "Centaur" records. "Meridian" records released his latest recording in 2009, presenting works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert, arranged for piccolo and guitar.
