The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1936 as a haven for the oppressed Jewish virtuosi of Europe. Today, the Orchestra is recognized both nationally and internationally as an eminent musical institution and as Israel’s musical ambassador.
The IPO Foundation, established in 1981, ensures that the unique sound of the IPO and its musical message of harmony and excellence will be yours for years to come. Despite widespread support, which includes more than 26,000 subscribers from around the world and a small government contribution, our sales and subsidies cover only 60% of the Orchestra's yearly budget; the balance is covered by the Foundation and its family of donors.
In addition to sustaining the IPO’s tradition of artistic excellence, donations to the Foundation play a crucial role in supporting the Orchestra’s educational outreach program, KeyNote, and in enabling the Orchestra to extend the joys of classical music to all parts of Israel and of the world through international tours and festivals.
Seventy-four years after its founding, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra continues to play a vital role in Israel’s musical and cultural development. The Foundation looks to you to help sustain Israel’s oldest symphony orchestra and achieve its goal of spreading classical music to new audiences.
