Concert Program

Instrumental and vocal music of Bach and Bruckner

Event Info

Johann Sebastian Bach and Anton Bruckner each devoted their last work to God. Both were deeply rooted in the religious music tradition in the communities in which they worked—Bach as organist and composer at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, and Bruckner as organist and composer at St. Florian Monastery near Linz. Both Bach and Bruckner existed in the shadows of the successes of other composers, and they couldn’t have imagined to what extent their own music would become famous after their deaths. Yet, they were aware of their talent and the quality of the music they composed. This session focuses on some of the qualities that characterize the magnificent and glamorous music they gave us.

Works by Bach will be performed in January, March and May 2018; a work by Bruckner will be performed in May 2018

This lecture will be in Hebrew
