Started to play cello at the age of 6.

What age did you understand that you wish to pursue a musical career?
Decided to become professional musician at the age of 19.

Name an unforgettable moment with the IPO
My 1st time playing Mahler symphonies 2&3 with Zubin Mehta in 1992.

What do you love to do off stage?
Off stage I love to travel a lot, visiting exotic places.

Which kind of music would we find on your playlist?
I like listening to operas by Verdi and Puccini, symphonies by Mahler, and chamber music by Beethoven, Schubert, Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn.

What is the special significance of the IPO to you/Why did you want to be part of the IPO?
I wanted to be a part of the IPO because of:
1. It is the most professional workplace for musician in Israel
2. You get to meet the best conductors
3. You get to meet the best soloists
4. You meet high level colleagues and collaborate with them for music making.

Did you acquire any new skills during the pandemic?
I wouldn’t call it acquiring a new skill during the pandemic, but I have improved my cooking abilities.

How can we keep classical music and live performances relevant in the digital era?
I believe and hope, that the digital instruments are called mostly to inform than to satisfy the soul needs. I also think that after such a period, as we’re getting through right now, it must be a big wave of audience comeback to get some real feelings and touches, which we’re producing.
But together with this we must look for new forms and new combinations to supply. Of course, it’s a very general statement, but I still believe, that human beings won’t want to become half robots dealing only with electronic gadgets and going out only for food…
