Itai Agmon

Itai Agmon

Born in Jerusalem 1993, Itai Agmon is the principal tubist of the Israel Philharmonic since 2019. Prior to his current position, he was principal tubist of the Minnesota Opera orchestra from 2015. Itai had also played with many orchestras worldwide, including Daniel Barenboim’s West-Eastern Divan, the National Orchestra of Spain, Iceland Symphony, Pacific Music Festival Orchestra (Japan) and others. After serving in the Israel Defense Forces Band from 2011 to 2014, Itai completed his Bachelor’s Degree of Music at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (Bloomington) and was awarded the prestigious Performer’s Certificate. Itai is also a prizewinner of two International Tuba-Euphonium Conference competitions (2016) and has been supported by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation through excellence scholarships (2011-2018). As a passionate and active tuba teacher, he is currently adjunct professor at the Tel Aviv University Buchmann-Mehta School of Music & Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and has given Masterclasses throughout Israel, Europe and the United States. Itai plays on instruments handcrafted by Meister Walter Nirschl from Bavaria.
