Yoel Abadi, hornist
As a chamber music performer, Yoel has recorded five albums with the Kaprizma Ensemble which include pieces written especially for him. He has been a guest artist in numerous festivals including the Rolandseck Festival (Germany), the St. Petersburg Festival (Russia) and the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, where he has performed alongside Daniel Barenboim, who subsequently invited him to join the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. Moreover Yoel has performed at the Jerusalem Early Music Workshop where he has played the natural horn alongside prominent artists in the field of early music.
Taking a keen interest in the training of young musicians, Yoel Abadi is on the faculty of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University. His students have continued their studies at some of the finest academic institutions in the world and have been accepted to orchestras in Israel and abroad. In addition, Yoel is one of the founders of the Israel Horn Day and has furthermore taught at the Italian Brass Week.
Yoel Abadi studied in Israel with James Madison Cox. He continued his studies in the United States with William VerMeulen at Rice University. Yoel also attended the Early Music Institute at Indiana University where he studied natural horn with Richard Seraphinoff. For over ten consecutive years he was a recipient of America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships.
