Michael Slatkin

Michael Slatkin was born in New Jersey, USA in 1967. He began studying the horn at age 10 with Alan Orloff in New York. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in 1989, in Rochester, USA, having studied with Verne Reynolds for 4 years. After Eastman, Mr. Slatkin studied for 2 years with Philip Myers, principal horn in the New York Philharmonic. In 1991, he joined the Israel Philharmonic as Associate Principal Horn. Mr. Slatkin has appeared on many recordings with the Israel Philharmonic, and has recorded with the New York Philharmonic as well. Michael has been a member of the Israel Philharmonic Brass Quartet, the Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet and has appeared as soloist with many of the orchestras in Israel. He is currently on the faculty of the Sadna Conservatory in Jerusalem and the Ramat Gan Conservatory and teaches chamber music through Mishkenot Sha’ananim.
