David Segal

David Segal

David Segal, who joined the Israel Philharmonic in 2014, was born in Israel. He started his career playing with the Young Israel Philharmonic, the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music Symphony Orchestra, the Mannes College Symphony Orchestra and the Juilliard School Symphony Orchestra.
While devoting most of his career to classical music, he has also spent a considerable amount of time playing Jazz, as well as a theatre pit musician and a sideman for some of the top singers in the Israeli popular music scene.
After moving to New York City in 2008, he has performed in diverse venues around the city including Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Highline Ballroom and Le Poisson Rouge.
David Segal holds a BFA degree from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, and a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School. His main teachers include former Israel Philharmonic double bassist Eli Magen and former principal double bassist of the New York Philharmonic Mr. Eugene Levinson.
