Name an unforgettable moment with the IPO
I remember numerous incredible concerts throughout my 17 years in the orchestra. One of these unforgettable concerts was in a neighborhood of Buenos Aires. It was outdoors with an incredible amount of people (most of them from the same neighborhood). It started raining in the middle of the concert, and Zubin kept conducting vigorously. At the end of the program the audience demanded an encore, and so we played an Argentinian tango. Suddenly, people were getting off their seats and started dancing in couples! The entire park turned to a big stage for both young and old couples dancing the tango!

What do you love to do off-stage?
Learning languages, meeting up with friends, and watching great movies.
Which kind of music would we find on your playlist?
Bossa nova, Blues, Opera and French Chansons.

What is the special significance of the IPO to you/Why did you want to be part of the IPO?
To me it is a prestigious institution, with rich tradition and magnificent history.

Did you acquire any new skills during the pandemic?
Yes. I have started sewing dresses, and teaching Hebrew to beginners from all over the world ☺

How can we keep classical music and live performances relevant in the digital era?
In my opinion we must diversify and collaborate with different art genres (movies, dance, ballet etc.)
Something you wish to share about yourself
Like most crucial things in life which happen unintentionally, I myself became a professional violinist completely by chance.
I was born in Ukraine to a family of engineers. My dad loved music, and there wasn’t a day without listening to classical music from his enormous record collection. As a young girl I always loved singing, but according to the grownups around me (including my dad unfortunately) the songs I sang could be recognized only by the lyrics… “No talent” – dad ruled.
One day some people from the music college arrived at my kindergarten, looking for musically talented children. The big surprise my dad received was that I was talented after all! That’s how my path began, towards the wonderful world of magical sounds, full of hard work and torments, hopes, pleasures and disappointments…
