Hadar Cohen

At what age did you begin playing a musical instrument?
I started playing when I was 6 years old.

At what age did you understand that you wish to pursue a musical career?
Already when I was a teenager I knew I wanted to play in an orchestra. I was mesmerized by the sound of the strings in the German orchestras – and so after graduating from the Jerusalem academy, I moved to Germany to pursue more advanced studies, and I even played with orchestras in Berlin and Hamburg for few years.

Name an unforgettable moment with the IPO
There were many unforgettable moments since I joined the orchestra in 2013, but a prominent one was the concert with maestro Ricardo Muti, in which we replicated the same program of the first concert of the orchestra from December 1936.

What do you love to do off-stage?
Building things from wood, bake, and make chocolates.
Which kind of music would we find on your playlist?
In my playlist there is Bach – my favorite composer, jazz music, and there’s a special little corner in my heart saved for Tango. You could see some examples of my playlist published by the orchestra’s foundation. It is list number 15 from August 29, 2020.
