Michael Shaham is an Israeli violinist who has appeared as a soloist with leading international orchestras, including the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean Chamber Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Klassische Philharmonie Bonn, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, and all major Israeli ensembles, among them the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.
He has collaborated with conductors such as Lahav Shani, Rafael Payare and Alexander Joel.
Shaham is a prizewinner of major international competitions: he received Second Prize at the Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition in Vienna (2022), was a Laureate of the Concours musical international de Montréal (2023), and won First Prize at both the Aviv Competitions in Tel Aviv (2025) and the ISA Challenge Competition in Austria (2022).
Shaham currently studies with Janine Jansen at the Kronberg Academy. He is an alumnus of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Ida Kavafian and Shmuel Ashkenasi. He was a long-time scholarship recipient of the America–Israel Cultural Foundation and a participant in the Goldman Program at the Jerusalem Music Centre. In 2018, he was awarded the Arkady Fomin Award by Vadim Gluzman.
Recent highlights include performances with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Korean Chamber Orchestra, as well as appearances with Sir András Schiff in Kronberg and at London’s Wigmore Hall.
An active chamber musician, Shaham has collaborated with artists including Vadim Gluzman, Lawrence Power, Timothy Ridout, Gary Hoffman, Raphael Wallfisch, Torleif Thedéen, Kian Soltani, Pablo Ferrández and Itamar Golan.
Upcoming engagements include solo appearances with the Stuttgart Philharmonic, Deutsche Philharmonie Merck, Dortmund Philharmoniker, and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn.
