What age did you begin playing a musical instrument?
6 years old piano, 14 years old bass.

What age did you understand that you wish to pursue a musical career?
I studied in music departments in both junior high and high school, served in the IDF as an Outstanding Musician, and started my musical academic studies before even finishing my army service. This question has never come up, it was always very natural and obvious that I will be a musician.

Name an unforgettable moment with the IPO
Two moments: first was the production (fully staged) of Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio and of course under Zubin’s baton. Unforgettable, first because it was one of the last times we had a fully staged opera. However it was mainly thanks to the outstanding way Zubin ran the rehearsals and shows. He was calm, extremely confident, full of sense of humor, and gave both the performers and the audience a true and authentic opera house experience. It was unbelievably fun!
The second one is pretty obvious, the farewell concert with Zubin in which we played Mahler’s 2nd symphony. A piece which has always been in Zubin’s blood as if it was his own. Zubin seemed agitated but yet calm, full of confidence and determination and at the same time truly relaxed. This concert was just a little over a year ago, but seems to be like a sweet far away dream. I wish I could go back and experience it again…

What do you love to do off stage?
In the past I used to do Yoga, pottery, and I even studied Shiatsu for two years. These days I’m mainly busy with raising three kids, but I love it!

Which kind of music would we find on your playlist?
While driving, I like testing myself listening to “Kol HaMusika” (classical music radio station). Checking my memory with pieces I’m already familiar with, and trying to guess the composer of pieces I don’t know yet. Other than that I love Israeli music and Jazz.
