Igor Levit Plays Schubert, Chopin, and Beethoven
“I don’t want to be just someone who presses keys.”
When you hear Igor Levit play, you understand exactly what he means. His playing is sensitive, probing, risk-taking, and always feels spontaneous and deeply authentic. The program he has chosen reflects the richness of his musical personality: from Schubert’s late, introspective sonata, through Chopin’s restless fantasy searching for its way, to Beethoven’s blazing Appassionata.
The Israel Philharmonic’s Summer Festival is proud to host pianist Igor Levit for a special recital on July 23, 2026.
Levit, one of the most prominent and influential voices in the world of classical music today, was the first international artist to arrive in Israel after October 7, driven by a desire to express support and solidarity. Since then, he has maintained an ongoing artistic relationship with the orchestra, including joint concerts in Israel and abroad, as well as educational activities.
This recital also carries a special value-driven significance: Levit is donating his entire fee to support the activities of the “Keynote Program,” the Israeli Philharmonic’s education initiative.
