Liam Jankelovics

 

Liam is a double bassist and a graduate of the Buchmann–Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University, where he studied with Nir Comforty. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Double Bass Performance from the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal, where he studied with Joel Quarrington, after earlier studies at the University of Michigan SMTD with Maximillian Dimoff.

He has participated in top summer programs, including the Aspen Music Festival (fellowship, 2024), Wabass Institute, and Orford Music Academy, studying with  renowned artists such as Tim Pitts, Leigh Mesh, and Hal Robinson.

Liam served as the principal bassist of the Buchmann–Mehta Symphony Orchestra and performed as a substitute bassist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared with ensembles including the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and Aspen Festival Orchestra, and has performed across North America, Europe, and Asia.

In 2022, he served as a Fellow at the Rubin Institute of Musical Criticism.
