Lotem Beider Ben Aharon

Lotem Beider Ben Aharon discovered her love for the viola at a young age, studying it with Avshalom Sarid following several years of studying the violin.
In 2000 she enrolled at the Tel Aviv Music Academy, Tel Aviv University, studying with Prof. Gad Lewertoff and receiving both her B.Mus and M.Mus summa cum laude. While still a student, she won first prize in 2003, third prize in the solo competition and many other prizes in the Academy’s chamber music competitions.
She continued her studies for an Artist’s Diploma at Indiana University Bloomington with Prof. Atar Arad. In 2011 she completed her training with the New World Symphony, under Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas.
She is a graduate of the young musicians unit of the Jerusalem Music Center, has participated in master classes with Tabea Zimmermann, Michael Tree, Nobuko Imai, Janos Starker and members of the Orion Quartet, among others, performed with various chamber ensembles on radio broadcasts, played with the East-West Divan Orchestra and has taken part in Keshet Eilon, Bayreuth Youth Festival as well as Aspen, Sarasota and Verbier festivals, and has appeared as soloist with the Indiana University Orchestra and the New World Symphony.
Lotem Beider Ben Aharon is a winner of America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships and the Ministry of Culture and Sport prize for outstanding performance of an Israeli piece at the 2007 Aviv Competitions, and has participated in international competitions in Munich and Tokyo.
