Lia Chen Perlov

Lia Chen Perlov is a principal cellist in the Israel Philharmonic since the 2021-22 season. During her studies in Thelma Yalin high school for the arts she studied with Prof. Zvi Plesser, and later with Prof. Hillel Zori. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from The Lübeck Academy of Music, and Master of Music degree from The Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University in Leipzig.

Lia has performed on many stages throughout the world as a soloist, chamber player and in orchestras. As a soloist she performed with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck, Bad Elster Ensemble and more. As a chamber musician, Lia performs in festivals around the world and is regularly invited to play with leading musicians.

Lia won the first prize of the Ben-Haim competition, second prize in Possehl Music Awards and more. She was also a long-time recipient of the Sharett Grant from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation.

In recent years, Lia has dedicated significant time to teaching cello and coaching ensembles in The Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

She plays a Giuseppe Galiano cello owned by the Israel Philharmonic.
